Over scenic Tahneta Pass with vistas of Matanuska Glacier. Travel along WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE, and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, which runs 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. The area boasts glaciers larger than the island of Manhattan and is home to nine of the 16 highest peaks in North America. Along the way, see spectacular scenery.

Day 8:Mon. SCENIC CRUISING: COLLEGE FJORD. Only one place in Alaska surrounds you on three sides with flowing rivers of ice. Imagine cruising past one dramatic tidewater glacier after another - an awesome assemblage of Ice Age wonders named after the nation's leading Ivy League colleges. As you travel into the Fjord, the glaciers on the left are named for women's colleges and those on the right are named for men's colleges. (B,L,D)
Day 9:Tue. SCENIC CRUISING: GLACIER BAY. Glacier Bay has more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anyplace else in the world. How does it feel when a monumental chunk of ice splits off a glacier and crashes into the sea? The sound is like thunder. The impact shoots water hundreds of feet into the air. You hold your breath as you catch the moment on film. Then you wait for it all to happen again. (B,L,D)
Day 10:Wed. HAINES. Nestled on the shores of America's longest fjord, Haines is in a spectacular setting. You may choose to fill your day with a float trip through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve which protects the habitat of the nation's avian symbol. Or board the optional high-speed catamaran for access to shopping and excursions in Skagway. Stroll the wooden sidewalks past charming false-front buildings and colorful saloons. Visit the Red Onion Saloon with its honky-tonk piano and costumed barmaids. To complete the picture of those rip-roaring days, visit the nostalgic Trail of 98 Museum. (B,L,D)
Day 11:Thu. JUNEAU. Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. (B,L,D)
Day 12:Fri. KETCHIKAN. Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains with a hospitable air. (B,L,D)
Day 13:Sat. SCENIC CRUISING: INSIDE PASSAGE. Spend the day cruising one of the world's most spectacular waterways. Located along the coast of British Columbia, the Inside Passage is the longest sheltered inland waterway in the world. Watch the water for orcas and humpback whales. (B,L,D)
Day 14:Sun. VANCOUVER. Disembark this morning and transfer to Vancouver International Airport for your return flight home. Please schedule homebound flights after 1pm. (B)
