About This Tour

Vacation Overview
From Anchorage to Fairbanks, see what the "Big Land" of Alaska has to offer on this exhilarating vacation. Begin your trip in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, and travel through the Matanuska Valley and over Tahneta Pass to the seaside port of Valdez. Board a boat for a cruise on Prince William Sound and along the 3-mile face of Columbia Glacier. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including seals, sea otters, birds, and even whales. In Alaska's second-largest city of Fairbanks, enjoy panning for gold at the Eldorado Gold Mine and cruising on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Next, board the world-famous Alaska Railroad for a journey through untamed wilderness to Denali National Park, where you seek out grizzly bears, caribou, moose, and other interesting wildlife in the shadow of the 20,320-foot Mount McKinley, North America’s highest peak. In Denali National Park, you have free time to explore on your own or join in optional activities, including a helicopter ride over the park. On your way back to Anchorage, stop at the Iditarod Headquarters. In Anchorage, enjoy a guided city sightseeing tour and then travel one of the world’s most scenic drives to Seward, where you board a cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park for an opportunity to see glaciers calving into the sea, orcas, humpback whales, sea otters, and more.

Return to Anchorage for a 7-night Holland America cruise, where you have ample opportunity to take in Alaska’s awe-inspiring glaciers and majestic scenery. On this Alaska cruise, explore the remote and rugged beauty of areas such as Glacier Bay, Juneau, and Ketchikan via Alaska’s majestic Inside Passage. Watch for spouting whales, soaring eagles, barking seals, and other wildlife. Marvel at glaciers and witness the amazing spectacle of thunder and spray as tremendous slabs of ice break off and “calve” into the sea. Soak in the local flavor of Juneau, Alaska’s capital, and see the world’s largest totem collection in Ketchikan. Disembark in Vancouver. What an amazing way to end your Spectacular Alaska land and cruise vacation!

CURRENT SPECIALS:

Standard Offers and Specials provided by Globus

Discount for young travelers

Share the pleasure of a Globus vacation with your children and grandchildren and take advantage of a 10-percent discount on the land-only price. For eligibility, children must be under 18 years of age on the departure date and must be accompanied by an adult. On escorted vacations we don’t accept children under eight years old because we have found that they are too young to enjoy these vacations.

Pay less for your second vacation

We charge you vacation price for your first vacation in 2008, but for every additional Globus vacation you take in the same year, you pay US$35 under list. Our vacations are designed and scheduled so you can combine them almost any way you want. It’s fun to play the add-a-vacation game yourself or talk to your travel agent.

Triple room reduction

On most Globus vacations you receive a reduction when three people travel together and share the same accommodations. Triple room reductions, when available, are listed on the itinerary pages. A word of caution: Triple rooms usually are no larger than twin rooms and the third bed, if there is one, is often a rollaway put in a twin-bedded room.

Avoid the single room supplement

We do not take reservations on a “share” basis because we have found that strangers rarely enjoy sharing a room for the duration of their vacation. Avoid the single room supplement by traveling with a friend. It’s less expensive and much more fun!
