About This Tour

Vacation Overview
Discover the unique beauty of Alaska and the Yukon during this invigorating vacation. Begin your trip in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, with a visit to the Iditarod Headquarters before boarding the historic Alaska Railroad for a scenic train journey to Denali National Park. Spend two nights in Denali National Park and enjoy a guided tour of this spectacular wilderness. Watch for majestic grizzly bears, caribou, moose, and much more. You have free time for optional adventures and tours, including a helicopter ride over the park, a float trip, or exploring on your own. Next, travel to Fairbanks, Alaska’s second-largest city, and cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Visit the University of Alaska–Fairbanks Museum on your city tour, and stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Then, head to Dawson City and see breathtaking scenery along the way. Step back in time at Claim #1, where the first gold strike was made, and continue to an old gold dredge to learn how gold changed Alaska and to try your hand at gold panning. Tour on the First Nations’ traditions and culture over the past 100 years at the Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre. In Whitehorse, visit the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre, the SS Keno Riverboat, and the Uncommon Journeys’ dogsled facilities. Travel through rugged Kluane National Park, home to 19,625–foot Mount Logan, Canada’s highest peak. Travel the Alaska Highway en route to Tok; then head to Valdez and enjoy a cruise on Prince William Sound. Keep an eye out for whales, eagles, mountain goats, dolphins, and sea lions.

Return to Anchorage for a 7-night Holland America Alaska cruise that explores the remote and rugged beauty of areas such as Glacier Bay, Juneau, and Ketchikan via Alaska’s majestic Inside Passage. Watch for spouting whales, soaring eagles, barking seals, and other wildlife. Marvel at glaciers and witness the amazing spectacle of thunder and spray as tremendous slabs of ice break off and “calve” into the sea. Soak in the local flavor of Juneau, Alaska’s capital, and see the world’s largest totem collection in Ketchikan. Disembark in Vancouver, the ideal ending to your Alaska & Yukon land and cruise vacation.

CURRENT SPECIALS:

Standard Offers and Specials provided by Globus

Discount for young travelers

Share the pleasure of a Globus vacation with your children and grandchildren and take advantage of a 10-percent discount on the land-only price. For eligibility, children must be under 18 years of age on the departure date and must be accompanied by an adult. On escorted vacations we don’t accept children under eight years old because we have found that they are too young to enjoy these vacations.

Pay less for your second vacation

We charge you vacation price for your first vacation in 2008, but for every additional Globus vacation you take in the same year, you pay US$35 under list. Our vacations are designed and scheduled so you can combine them almost any way you want. It’s fun to play the add-a-vacation game yourself or talk to your travel agent.

Triple room reduction

On most Globus vacations you receive a reduction when three people travel together and share the same accommodations. Triple room reductions, when available, are listed on the itinerary pages. A word of caution: Triple rooms usually are no larger than twin rooms and the third bed, if there is one, is often a rollaway put in a twin-bedded room.

Avoid the single room supplement

We do not take reservations on a “share” basis because we have found that strangers rarely enjoy sharing a room for the duration of their vacation. Avoid the single room supplement by traveling with a friend. It’s less expensive and much more fun!
